Hello CPJ! We have recently noticed a lot of issues surrounding email address use as it pertains to your Club Penguin Journey account. We have received an influx of tickets about email addresses, so we want to clarify a few things and give a few recommendations to avoid some unfortunate outcomes.
Do I need to retain access to this email?
YES. We cannot stress this enough. Do NOT use a burner email service to create your account. Ensure that you retain access to the email account and store the login and password somewhere safe. Your email that is attached to the account is used by our Trust & Safety Team to verify ownership of your account. If you run into an issue and need to change your password, your email, or any other account detail you will need access to the email. This is a very important precaution that we take to prevent bad actors from changing your account details without authorization. No email access, no CPJ access.
What happens if I lose access to my email?
If you lose access to the email associated with your account, you will lose the ability to make changes to the account. This means if you forget your password, you will be permanently locked out of your account, until you can regain access.
What can I do now to avoid getting locked out?
If you suspect that you may lose access to the email associated with your account, change the email to one that you do have access to before you lose access. You can change your email from the profile page at support.cpjourney.net. Please note you will need to confirm the email change from the old email address and then verify the new address from the new one.
Wrapping Up…
We hope this clears some things up and addresses some key issues that have led to many users getting locked out of their accounts. While it makes us sad to do so, this system is critical for your account safety.
If you have any questions, you can reach out to us as always through our support site at support.cpjourney.net or at [email protected].
