AFK Timer Implementation

Happy Monday, penguins!

Many of you will recall back in February of this year we posted a poll on our official Discord server to gauge interest in the potential introduction of an AFK Timer system, with just under 70% of respondents indicating they were!

After some work behind the scenes, we then launched an AFK Server Timer Test in April that was restricted to the Sleet server. For this test, we set the timer to be constantly active, provide a warning to the AFK user after 25 minutes followed by a kick at 30 minutes.

After considering your feedback, we are excited to launch the latest phase of our AFK Timer alongside today’s usual Monday Updates. Now, for the specifics:

  • The AFK Timer will ONLY enable on a given server when that server has reached full capacity and the queue system has activated.
  • An icon will appear next to the server’s name in the server list whenever the AFK Timer is active.
  • The AFK Timer will affect ALL ROOMS.
  • A warning will be provided to the AFK player after 25 minutes of inactivity, followed by a kick at 30 minutes assuming the inactivity continues.

This can be considered an indefinite test. We don’t currently intend on disabling the Timer entirely, rather refining it as needed moving forward. As with the test we ran on Sleet, we remain open to any and all feedback regarding this AFK Timer, which can be submitted to us either:

  1. Via the Tour HQ’s Suggestion Box.
  2. Through opening a ticket on our Support Site.
  3. Emailing us directly at [email protected]

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and hope this change can make high traffic events such as mascot meetups more accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

On a final note, please be reminded that the use of scripting, macros and/or other automation tools remains against our Terms of Service and subject to moderator action. Thanks all!

Until next time…Waddle on!
